Diversity

Diversity is one of Degan, Blanchard & Nash’s core values. We are proud of our efforts to recruit, retain and develop careers of people from diverse backgrounds. Degan, Blanchard & Nash is also committed to achieving and maintaining diversity in all aspects of Firm life. In addition, our clients are best served by legal teams who reflect the diversity of the communities and cities in which we practice.

As part of our commitment to diversity, the firm is proud to announce it is participating in the Midsize Mansfield Rule initiative. This initiative is a commitment by the firm that we will consider an intentionally broad pool of candidates when selecting leaders for positions within the firm, hiring entry-level and lateral attorneys, and forming teams for client pitches. The Midsize Mansfield Rule initiative also includes a commitment by the firm to be transparent in our internal governance, particularly with our selection guidelines and job descriptions for existing management roles and committees.

Diversity makes us a stronger firm and better able to understand our clients' needs. We will continue to develop programs and policies designed to ensure that Degan, Blanchard & Nash continues to have a positive impact on the future of the communities in which we do business.

Our Diversity and Inclusion Committee, chaired by Partner, Keith A. Kornman and "Of Counsel", Jena W. Smith, seeks to recruit and support DBN team members from diverse backgrounds and promote an inclusive workplace. Rounding out the committee is the firm’s Managing Partner, Sidney W. Degan III, along with Partners, Foster P. Nash, Catherine M. Landry, and John Futrell.

As part of our mission to promote our core values, DBN has established the Degan, Blanchard & Nash Scholarship Fund at the University of New Orleans. This endowed scholarship will be awarded to a minority student for whom a college education would be a financial hardship and who is a member of an underrepresented group.
